My name is Bhabani Shankar Das, I am 42 years old, and I never imagined that I would have to write something like this in my life. I am the only earning member of my family, and since October 2019 I have been fighting a battle I was never prepared for – cancer.
In October 2019, I was diagnosed with tongue cancer. I underwent a major and very painful surgery followed by radiation at HCG Cancer Hospital, Bengaluru, for which we spent around ₹16,00,000. At that time, I was working as an average software engineer and used all my savings to manage the treatment.
Unfortunately, the cancer came back. In November 2024, it spread again and when second surgery done at Tata Memorial Mumbai Hospital and Chemo therapy at Narayan Health which all together 40 Lakh cost. In July 2025, I started chemotherapy and immunotherapy at Narayana Health (Mazumdar Shaw Medical Center, Bengaluru), which added further to the already mounting expenses.
Over these years, my life has completely changed. To bear these huge hospital and medical expenses, I have:
Used up all my personal and family savings
Taken multiple loans
Sold whatever little assets I had
Today, I have nothing left to continue the treatment that can save my life.
My doctors have now recommended multiple cycles of chemotherapy, including Pembrolizumab, Paclitaxel, and Carboplatin, which are extremely expensive. I have attached my medical reports and the revised cost estimate from Healthcare Global Enterprises Ltd (HCG), Bengaluru as proof of my condition and treatment plan. The immediate estimated cost is around ₹12,00,000 for the upcoming cycle, and even more will be required for further treatment.
I am also a father of a 5-year-old son, who himself is unwell and needs medical care. My biggest fear is not my illness, but the thought of leaving my wife and my small son alone without any support. They are completely dependent on me – emotionally, physically, and financially.
Today, with folded hands, I am reaching out to you because I have no other option left.
I want to live.
I want to fight.
I want to see my son grow up.
Your contribution, no matter how small, can help me:
Continue my chemotherapy and immunotherapy
Pay for hospital charges, medicines, and investigations
Get a real chance to survive and return to my family
Please help me in whatever way you can – by contributing, sharing this fundraiser link, and praying for my recovery. No amount is small; every rupee matters and brings me one step closer to life.
🙏 Please support my fundraiser and help me fight cancer.
🙏 Please help me return to my wife and child.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
