An amazing line-up of films made with a feminist and intersectional lens is getting ready for the 6th edition of the Beyond Borders Feminist Film Festival. We are excited by the diversity of non-fiction and fiction films that we will be able to showcase and even more, the conversations that will follow.
To be held at different venues from 21st to 30th November 2025 in New Delhi, the festival will be an occasion for feminist solidarity and coming together during the 16 Days of Activism on Violence against women, culminating with the celebration of the South Asian Women's Day on 30th November. Following the in-person festival, an online edition will be organised on Doculive.in Smaller film packages will then travel to local community, non-profit and academic spaces across rural and urban India, culminating in the women's day month of March 2026.

The festival is curated by Aanchal Kapur and organised by Kriti Film Club, an independently run and non-funded 25 year old documentary initiative, of the non-profit organisation: Kriti development praxis and communication Trust.
The story of the Beyond Borders Feminist Film Festival is 'her'storical to say the least, as it began on a trigger conversation with the (Late) Kamla Bhasin during Covid in 2020. The festival was named in sync with the unforgettable quote “I am not a wall that divides – I am a crack in that wall”—that pushes us to challenge and break through patriarchal, social, religious walls within and across the South Asian region. The first edition was organised virtually in November 2020, alongwith online conversations that made all of us feel together in those times.
Kamla di left us so suddenly in September 2021 but our promise and commitment to her and South Asian feminist solidarity did not end…
With another online festival in 2021, it has been hybrid in 2022, 2023 and 2024 and our belief in the power of feminist cinema is only grown stronger. With over 20000 online viewers and 5000+ in-person audience, we have screened 300 non-fiction and fiction films over these editions and had conversations that, we hope to have impacted mindsets and behaviours to look at life, work, people, places and issues with a senstive feminist lens. Read more here.
The hard work of our young volunteers has made us come this far with all that they have done behind the scenes and on-ground over the last five editions. The festival has been minimally supported by Jagori and some individual donors upto 2024, but this year, we need it to be fully supported to make it happen!
This appeal goes out to all of you to donate, partner, and support the 6th edition of the festival. With your resources we will be able to cover the expenses to invite filmmakers, speakers, organise master/ expert classes, manage hospitality and logistics, cover our team's and volunteers time and travel logistics, documentation and social media management; and take the festival to other locations and audience as a travelling edition until March 2026. This funding will enable a 7-month long programming of the festival, beyond a one-time event.
We look forward to seeing our fundraising target met (ideally) by 31st October 2025, to meet our mission of showcasing feminist cinema for social impact and active citizenship towards equality, equity, peace and justice!
