There is urgent need to Supply Food and medical aid to at least 6000 Tribal & Rural Families whom CEI is helping to survive especially in the states which are worst hit by Pandemic. Most of these families are Below Poverty Line belonging to PVTG (Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group) Tribe and they are affected by Shutdown due to Coronavirus Pandemic.

It is important to note that most of these tribal families are not having Ration Card, Aadhar Card (or other Government Documents), etc. hence they cannot avail of the Ration being supplied by the Government at the Ration/PDS outlets. They urgently require help from civil society for their survival.

The Tribes and other marginalized communities whom CEI is serving across the India, are mostly Daily-Wage Manual Laborers, from more than a month their daily income is gone, due to Coronavirus pandemic and they are left in extreme poverty and deprivation.

Vulnerability of one group of these Tribal families is already further worsened by the fact that their village - was uprooted and destroyed in the 2019 floods. (CEI had provided Flood-Relief and Rehabilitation service to those Tribals last year -

There are Extremely Poverty-Stricken tribal children from village of Khalapur town (Maharashtra) for e.g. these are young children whose father Ram Waghmare recently passed away in an accident. These orphaned Tribal girls barely in their teens have to look after their aged grandfather and ailing mother.

These orphaned children belong to Katkari Tribe which is classified by Ministry of Tribal Affairs as PVTG i.e. Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (Only 3 tribes comes under PVTG category out of 47 tribal groups in the state). There are thousands of such families in extremely vulnerable situation, who are in urgent need of Food & Medical Aid especially in these unprecedented times where we are fighting against Coronavirus pandemic.

The Funds will be utilized in providing Food Package, basic Medical Kit for prevention of contracting Coronavirus (additionally, the logistics & administrative cost will be included for ensuring these provisions reach to the intended beneficiaries spread across hundreds of villages):

  • Every Single Food Package will have Ration for 1 month for 1 family consisting of Rice, Flour, Pulses, Salt, Sugar, Cooking oil, Vegetables etc.
  • Medical Kit for prevention of contracting Coronavirus per family: Hand Sanitizer, Masks, Soap, Hand Wash and Lysol.
