My name is Shilpa Bandekar and I am initiating a fundraiser for my brother, Balkrishna Swar. 

Balkrishna Swar is 41 years old and resides in Mumbai City, Maharashtra. He has done his PhD in Applied Biology from Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Parel, Mumbai and was working with Metropolis.   

In August 2018, Balkrishna Swar was diagnosed with Acute myeloid leukemia (AML). He went through 4 rounds of Chemotherapy (till Jan 2019) and responded well. Unfortunately, in May 2019, he had a relapse and now cure is Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) only. The HLA typing of his siblings have tested negative. Hence, the doctors have recommended for Unrelated Donor Bone Marrow Transplant. He is being treated at ACTREC - Tata Memorial Hospital. 

As per doctor/hospital, the estimated cost of treatment is Rs. 50,00,000/- to Rs. 60,00,000/-. We expect the cost to escalate to Rs. 80,00,000/-.  This is based on our experience for the past 2 Chemotherapy sessions. The 4th Chemotherapy session cost us approx. Rs. 14,00,000/- where the average for previous 3 sessions was Rs. 7,00,000/- . Also the pre-BMT Chemotherapy (5th session) cost us Rs. 23,00,000/- where the estimate was approx.. Rs. 7,00,000/- . Till date, in all, we have already spent approx.. Rs. 60,00,000/- from our pocket towards his treatment. But arranging money for the BMT treatment is proving to be a herculean task.
