I, Ashish Kasodekar, have had a love for outdoor sports. To me the joy of running solo, under a beautiful night sky filled with stars is meditative.
Last August, I completed the 333km La Ultramarathon in Ladakh in 72 hours, becoming the third Indian and first Maharashtrian to do so.
With new vigour and determination, I have set a new goal – the 555 km La Ultramarathon, a feat which has never been attempted before. This marathon redefines the limits of human endurance, both mental and physical. The runner reaches an altitude of 17,500 feet 5 times in the race. The temperature can fluctuate from 40 degree Celsius to minus 12 degree Celsius in a matter of 6 hours.
The preparation for this type of race requires time, money and above all perseverance. Emotions run raw during such pursuits but the euphoric feeling that awaits at the finish line is what I live for.
