We are extending our support to rebuild and help people affected by the cyclone in Sunderban. We will run a community kitchen and help people rebuild their homes before the monsoon. We will make a few trips to different parts of south Bengal with food supplies and tarpaulins.
We are raising funds for 695 people (200 families) in Kolkata slums. This group includes 136 children, 25 elderly, and 6 disabled people. Most of them are daily low paid wagers who struggle to meet their daily needs even in normal times. The current lockdown has hit them hard as they have no savings.
Who are we?
We are a few individuals who were trying to support this group for the last month with the help of a local organization. However, as the lockdown extends the need for support is becoming more dire.
What are we doing and how can you help?
We are providing a ration for each family for a month. The ration consists of rice, lentils, potato, onion, salt, oil, and a bar of soap. This way we can minimize the physical contact and keep social distancing. The estimated cost per person is 550 Rs per month. You can contribute any amount to help us give these families a fighting a chance to survive.
