My name is Shrikara and I'm here to seek your help to support my friend's daughter, who is suffering from Bilateral Profound hearing loss.

Ravishankar and Poornima have 2 daughters. Elder daughter Aradhya is a 3.5-year-old kid, who is unable to hear and speak due to a birth defect. When Aradhya didn't start speaking even at the age of 1 year like normal kids, parents thought that their kid might be a little slow in speaking.

But at the age of 1.5 years, parents got worried since Aradhya was neither speaking nor responding to other sounds/voices. So, they got her checked in a local hospital. Scanning and checkup confirmed that Aradhya has 90% hearing loss in both the ears, which is a birth defect. The condition is called Bilateral Profound hearing loss.

Hailing from a poor background, Ravishankar works in a Hotel in Mangalore city and a single breadwinner of the family. The COVID-19 situation gave an additional hit to the family. Using the family savings, parents arranged for hearing aids, basic checkups and tried speech therapy in "Idham Speech-Language & Hearing Clinic, Moodabidri". Even after multiple months of speech therapy, there was no improvement in Aradhya's hearing and speaking abilities.

Then the family contacted Manasa Cochlear Implant and ENT Centre, Bangalore. After detailed analysis, doctors recommend Cochlear Implant Surgery. The surgery costs close to Rs.14,00,000, it is not possible to arrange this huge amount due to the financial condition of the family.  

The surgery needs to be done as soon as possible because the implant will not be effective after she gets older. So, the family has to plan for surgery in the month of November 2020. After the surgery, the hearing ability of 1 ear will improve and she'll be able to develop speech and language abilities too.
