As India grapples with rampant morbidity and mortality caused by the second wave of Covid-19, children in rural Jharkhand slip further into the grip of malnutrition. The lockdown itself has caused incalculable livelihood loss for families already on the fringes and has pushed them into abject poverty. Discontinuation of and irregularities in critical government services to manage malnutrition has contributed further in deepening this crisis, making it a challenge for such families to keep their already malnourished children alive.
The fundraiser aims to provide the families of such children with ration to sail through this phase and prevent hunger deaths. Your contribution will help these families buy essential food items such as pulses, cooking oil etc. (currently not covered under the PDS) for their children and possibly prevent their further deterioration and deaths.
These malnourished children, identified by a network of Anganwadi workers will be helped through this crisis till the time their parents regain employment and are able to buy food again.
