Rehabilitation of Leprosy Cured but Deformed Persons
Introduction of Project
Leprosy is the least infectious air-borne disease caused by Bacteria. Itch-less, the painless hypopigmented patch is the early symptom of leprosy. But patients report for treatment only with some complications due to the asymptomatic nature of the disease. It is easily curable by treatment. These persons with deformity (change of appearance), the ulcer on extremities due to loss of sensation are permanent and to be called Leprosy Cured but Deformed Persons (LCDPs) and not leprosy patients. Society isolates the LCDPs and their family members due to the stigma of the disease. They are still prevented from leading a normal life. India still has sixty percent of global case load. Unfortunately basic human rights of these persons are violated by more than one hundred laws.
Aim
Just like others, these LCDPs should be provided basic amnesties with respect.
