Covid19 has caused a lot of damage to lives and livelihoods of Indians. One of the most affected have been the migrant workers. Last year, after a sudden strict lockdown they faced unprecedented challenges of returning home and surviving amidst the fear of a novel disease. This year during the 2nd wave, similar situation has arisen again. Migrants are once again facing corona along with an uncertain future.
Last year, during lockdown, Disha Foundation, having worked with migrants for almost 2 decades came to the fore to help them with food rations and hygiene kits so that migrants can stay away from hunger and also protect themselves from Covid19. Disha Foundation wants to tell these migrants that YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
Disha has been helping migrants since Day 1 of lockdown last year, but needs more funds since the demand is huge. Also, these effects on migrants won't be limited for the covid period but extend for many months afterwards. Disha needs funds for then too.
Disha donated a number of food ration kits and personal hygiene kits last year with your generous help. After the 1st wave Disha began rebuilding the lives of migrants and helped them with financial inclusion, livelihood support, health access and legal support. We have also developed a mobile app exclusively for migrants.
