    This fundraiser will benefit

    Anita Arora

    from New Delhi, Delhi

We are starting a fundraiser to support Rakhi Arora (who herself is too self-respecting to ask for help) tide over the family’s financial hardships,  resulting from a drain on the family’s finances, due to huge medical bills for multiple emergency surgeries needed to save the life of her mother, Mrs. Anita Arora.

Rakhi is a strong-willed, 41 years old, single mother to a 13-year-old son, and a devoted daughter to her 63 years old ailing mother. Rakhi lost her husband in a road accident when her son was just a year old, and her father who had been bedridden ever since passed away four years back. Rakhi is the sole bread earner of the family.

In April 2021, during the second COVID-19 wave - she, her son, and her mother fell ill. Rakhi, and her son, tested Positive for COVID-19. Although her mother tested Negative for COVID-19, she developed intense pain in her abdomen with an inability to pass motion. Rakhi’s mother had to be admitted in Emergency at Private Hospital on 14.05.2021,  where she was found to have ‘Acute Mesenteric Ischemia with Bowel Gangrene’, as a result of her having developed a pathological condition with abnormal life-threatening Blood Clot formation (a possible complication of COVID-19) - causing cutting-off of Blood Supply and Gangrene of body parts.

At the hospital, Rakhi’s mother underwent emergency surgery to remove the gangrenous part of her small intestine, and to create an artificial opening on her abdomen (‘laparotomy with resection of gangrenous bowel segment with double-barrel stoma’) on 14.05.2021. During the course of her treatment at the hospital, she developed more Blood Clots (resulting from her abnormal blood clotting) cutting off blood supply and leading to Gangrene of further portions of her intestine, her left toe, and her right foot. She had to undergo multiple surgeries for these complications, requiring spending over a month at the hospital, and necessitating huge medical expenses, which drained all the family’s savings.

Rakhi’s mother still needs to undergo multiple surgeries to amputate the gangrenous parts of both her feet. While awaiting these surgeries, she is presently at home but requires daily blood thinner injections/medicines, dressing changes, and nursing care.

It has now become extremely difficult for the family to sustain.  We are trying to raise Rs 30,00,000 to support the family, and for further treatment and daily medical expenses which cost approx 4 thousand per day.

It is our humble request, please support raising funds and help the family. Any contribution will be of immense help.
