Aneesh and Beena are well-known in our community for two things - their work in social justice organising, and for being a loving home for abandoned dogs and cats over the years. They have received plenty of coverage in the media for their selfless care of ill animals that have been abandoned by people who are no longer interested in caring for them.
Their story began in Bangalore a few years ago, when they found a dog on the streets who had been abandoned. Ammukutty, as she came to be known, was taken to their home, and they also opened the door to more animals who had no one to care for them.
Now their family consists of 23 dogs, 6 puppies,10 cats and 5 kittens. Amongst them, several are ill, and some are paralysed, and need a lot of care.

Beena and Aneesh do not have the support of their families, and have always managed to do their best for their animals. But as you can imagine, their medical costs and food expenses alone come to a significant amount each month.

They have also struggled to find houseowners that are okay with renting the place out to an animal shelter, and have sometimes been forced to move out up to four times in a year.

Anyone who has met them know that Aneesha and Beena refer to their animals as their 'children' - and that is precisely how they treat them. No matter the struggle, they ensure that these animals are well-fed and healthy, and most importantly, happy!


But they need our help to keep going now. Their current house owner has asked them to vacate the house they're living in. As you can imagine, it's tough finding houseowners who are okay with even one pet, let alone 44 animals! The couple have also suffered a few health issues that have drained their financial resources, so now we're reaching out to you to ask for your help. Please help their shelter keep going, and keep all the doggos and kittens happy and healthy!
