My name is Debojit Nandi and I am here to raise funds for my wife Ananya Dey Nandi who is 27 years old. She is admitted to the ICU having one eye been amputated and at risk of losing the other eye as well due to an unfortunate car accident.
This horrific incident led us to be in the ICU for several weeks with exponentially growing bills and no funds to support the eye surgeries to save her vision in her only remaining eye, just days after our wedding.
Me and Ananya got married on the 21st of April. We were returning from my in-laws’ and met with a car accident near the Tarakeshwar road. Me and my wife were taken to the nearest hospital by local people. Later we were transferred to a private hospital in Kolkata. We came to know that Ananya's right eye was severely damaged and needed immediate amputation to save the other eye. Her frontal skull was horrifically damaged.
She was then again taken to another private hospital as CMRI didn't have eye operation department due to some renovations.
Ananya was then immediately taken to a very vital operation including 3 departments. The team of doctors did a fantastic job of removing all the blood and bone complications. Though the operation was a success she is still in ICU and still has no consciousness.
I was lucky to get away from this accident with some facial stitches and almost damaging my left eye, I am still recovering from the car steering hitting my rib cage and muscle tear but I have no fractured bones. Now I am discharged from CMRI.
Whereas Ananya is still in ICU for almost 3weeks now and the bills are rising aggressively due to her medicines, ICU charges, and frequent OT visits due to plastic surgeries. She is unable to see in her left eye. Doctors are telling her vision is doubtful on her left and may be required for a cornea replacement which is another 10 to 15 lacs INR.
Bills are 10lacs pending after all insurance and savings are exhausted.
The hospital estimated it to rise to 30 lacs including cornea replacement.
Both our families are financially exhausted due to the wedding. I am an Animator by profession. My father is a retired government employee and my mother is a housewife.
