HELP “AMRIT (Manas's Brother)” TO FIGHT WITH COVID
My elder brother Amrit Khatua was diagnosed as COVID-19 positive on 16th May 2021. After five days of continuous high fever, sudden shortness of breath, and falling oxygen levels led him to hospitalization. He was admitted at “Geeta Seva Sadan” in Arambagh, West Bengal on 21th May'2021 and he was put on oxygen support to maintain the oxygen (O2) levels. HRCT scan of the lungs revealed that part of his lungs was infected. As he has a past history of Cerebrovascular accident (CVA) last November, and there was no improvement even after 13 days of continuous O2 support (fluctuating between 50-80). The doctor suggests keeping him with very high flow O2 pressure. Amrit was later shifted to another hospital, Gangi Nursing Home ICU unit ventilator system in Arambagh, on 3rd June in the hope of better treatment. However, after four days in ICU, Amrit has struggled to maintain oxygen levels. Now, in ICU, the treatment is quite expensive, which entails daily expenses of Rs. 20000 to Rs. 25000 per day for the next 15 to 20 days.
