Story

COVID-19 has disrupted our lives and brought hardship and grief to many.  It's a tough time for most of us, but even tougher for the helpless and the voiceless.  Animal rights have always been weak in a country where millions live below the poverty line.  We have seen a big increase in people abandoning their pets.  This could be due to the fear and ignorance of animals being the vectors of Covid-19.  They may even have to leave their present homes to unite with their families or because of the loss of work.

All Creatures Great and Small (ACGS), is an animal sanctuary near Delhi, whose mission is to maintain a gentle, nurturing, loving and compassionate sanctuary for old, sick, abandoned, and lonely animals.  We believe every animal that comes through our gates is a sentient being who has the right to a life without fear and exploitation.  It is worthy of quality care, good nutrition, medical attention, and love.

The COVID -19 pandemic has impacted negatively on India’s animal population and the work of ACGS.  Animals have lost their access to human interaction and most importantly, food and water on the streets due to the curfew and lockdown.  With restaurants and shops closed, food
is now not available to them.

This is a clarion call for those who want to step in to ease the lives of these defenseless animals.

Presently, ACGS takes care of 450+ dogs, 7 pigs, 250 cats, 11 horses, 20 donkeys, 1 sheep, 18 goats, 49 cattle, 3 buffaloes, 15 emus, 55 ducks, 20 rabbits, 16 guinea pigs, 3 nilgais,  2 crows, 21 hens, 45 birds, 11 turtles, 1 owl. many fish, and still counting...

Our Work:

- Rescuing stray, old, sick, blind or abandoned animals, both large and small, who have been victims of abuse, cruelty or accidents and cannot survive on their own
- Providing quality medical care (including surgeries).
- Looking after the medical needs of the outpatients brought in by people from the surrounding villages and ensuring quality care is provided to non-resident animals
- Providing quality nutritional care (regular food but also vitamin and mineral supplements plus treats) to keep the animals energetic, content, and happy.
- Seeking redressal for cruelty done against animals
- Running an adoption program to find suitable and loving homes for our pets
- Running an open sanctuary for outside visitors, local villagers and volunteers to educate people in animal husbandry and organic sustainable farming practices. To allow children and adults to get over their fear of dogs and other animals by creating safe spaces.
- More recently for volunteers and staff to act as advocates to destigmatize animals as vectors of a human virus based on the most up to date WHO medical evidence.

How can you help?

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, our funding has been severely impacted both in financial and in-kind donations. We are therefore urgently seeking contributions to:

- provide food ration, medical aid for 900+ animals for the next 12 months
- buy a solar water pump that will fix the challenge of drinking water supply during times of prolonged electricity cuts in the unbearable Indian summers where temperatures regularly hit 45C
- enable us to install a biogas system in order to generate sustainable energy that would cut our costs on petro-carbon fuel bills and electricity and in addition reduce pollution. We want to cut our carbon footprint in one of the most polluted cities in the world and save our planet while we save animal lives
-enable us to construct three water harvesting pits to recharge groundwater.

Come, join us on our journey and bless our animals with happiness and hope!

This is a 100% not-for-profit campaign, and we will disclose the disbursement progress of the fund generated. This will be shared with all contributors at the end of the campaign, along with regular updates to donors. All donations are exempt under 80G.
