I am Ajit Sharma, currently working as a Gandhi Fellow in  Priamal Foundation Education Leadership, for the school leadership development program in Mumbai. Gandhi Fellowship is a program with the aim of changing 1 million lives. Fellow gets the opportunity to explore ground realities, working on mindsets and enable stakeholders. I have been assigned 5 schools to develop  Student Learning Outcomes majorly working on HM leadership skills, school, parents, community.

On my visit to all 5 schools from the last 1 year, I found that students love to observe and explore outside the classrooms thought games, And making school building a learning space BaLA concept comes to the Picture.

What is BaLA?
Building as Learning Aid or BaLA  is an innovative concept towards qualitative improvement in education, through developing child-friendly, learning and fun of school spaces — the classrooms, the floors, walls, doors, windows, pillars, corridors, the outdoor spaces and the natural environment — as learning resources.
Why BaLA?

• Learning is not restricted in classrooms
• Makes the school a child-friendly place
• Makes school an exciting place, allowing learning with fun
• Allows learning materials accessible to children, at all times.

The headmaster and I am currently working to develop school infrastructure in Bharucha Road BMC school, Dahisar East, Mumbai. The process will require a budget of 20,000/- to complete the BaLA.  It will impact 300+ students.
