Hi!
I want to share a story about somebody very special in my family’s life today. It happened in school when I was in 4th grade, I had the most miserable in Math class where my teacher was super disappointed with my performance. Seeing a big zero in the primary exams, she wrote a letter to my parents to find a way for me so that I could at least pass Math class of that grade. I never liked math and honestly, I still hate it.
Super upset and scared I came out of the school to my Rickshaw uncle, who was not only responsible to pick us up from home and drop us back, but responsible of our safety, security, and the most important one, if we were happy. Why happy? Cause we were a bunch of 3rd to 8th grades kids for whom the school was fun yet sometimes a battleground. Ajay Dada use to be the first one I would always see after school while coming back home. Not only he was on time but if ever we were hungry and wanted to have a roadside snack like vada-pav or Pepsi-cola, he would get it for us. Trust me, having pepsi-cola was the best feeling EVER!
Ajay Dada is a rare example of hard-working and even after all he had been through, he always had a positive look out towards life. Rickshaw driving can be a tedious job in the scorching heat of Mumbai. But never did he stop.
That day after Math class I was scared to get back home cause I am sure by now you know why! Who would want to go back home with a result like that? When I came to the rickshaw, Ajay dada saw me and asked me why was I looking pale and scared. I told him the entire story with a face almost about to cry and showed him the letter from the school. He quickly went out and got a pepsi-cola. I was surprised “why would he reward me with a pepsi-cola when I am failing.” He smiled and said “ don’t worry, failing doesn’t mean its an end. when you get hurt very badly while playing and are not able to do anything after for 2-3days, does it stop you from playing ever? no right, it’s just the same with math. I know you’ll work hard and get good scores.” That's where I learned the most important lesson of not giving up.
Why am I suddenly sharing this story is because Ajay Dada is losing his light. Recently, he got an extreme stroke and was detected with pneumonia leaving him partially paralyzed. He has a hard time talking and moving from his right side. He’s been hospitalized to bring under a stable condition but chance looks very thin. Due to harsh circumstances, he is not able to fund himself for the hospital billings or ask for help. We always try to find inspiration through hypothetical but tend to forget local superheroes like him. He needs us now!
I am making a huge request to all you guys to help him by donating some funds which could help him pay hospital bills, medicine charges and any other surcharges needed for him to get him cured. I also request my friends on facebook to please spread this message as much as possible till it reaches to all the people who were once those kids in his auto-rickshaw who found the happiness of entire world when he got that vada-pav and pepsi-cola! Currency from all the countries is accepted. Please feel free to drop me a text if you have any doubt about this. Your help is much appreciated.
