The Movement Begins

This marks the very first campaign under Finish-line—a platform created to bridge one of the biggest gaps in Indian sports: funding and visibility.

While countless athletes in India have the talent and determination to succeed, most struggle with what should never hold them back—money and opportunity. Finish-line was built to change that. We are one of the few platforms dedicated exclusively to helping athletes raise funds, find resources, and share their stories with the world.

Most athletes don’t have the time, network, or guidance to run their own campaigns—and that’s where Finish-line steps in. In collaboration with Milaap, we’ve launched an athlete-only fundraising initiative to bring to light the stories and voices that too often go unheard.

We begin this journey with Aditya Diwakar, a top-100 ranked singles badminton player from Bangalore, who dreams of representing India at the LA 2028 Olympics. His story is the first of many, and with your support, Finish-line hopes to make sure no athlete is left behind because of circumstances beyond their control.

The Challenge: Why Athletes Struggle

Every four years, we celebrate Olympic heroes. But behind those moments of glory lie the untold stories of countless Indian athletes who fall short—not because they lack talent, but because they lack opportunity and support. Training, travel, equipment, and nutrition come at a steep cost, and for many, the dream fades long before the spotlight ever finds them.

For most athletes in India, the journey ends not at the finish line, but at the funding line. Promising players are forced to give up or compromise, as support systems remain limited to a select few. The gap between potential and recognition isn’t measured in medals—it’s measured in access, guidance, and belief.

Why Aditya

Aditya Diwakar stands at that very crossroads—talented, disciplined, and fiercely determined, yet battling the same financial and structural barriers that hold back so many. But what makes his story extraordinary is not just his perseverance—it’s the unwavering partnership with his father.

Unable to find the right coach, Aditya’s father became one himself. Together, they even traveled to Indonesia to learn advanced techniques, and since then, he’s dedicated every single day to training his son. In a country where parents often push children away from sports, Aditya’s father has become the force that drives him toward it—sacrificing his own time, energy, and resources to turn his son’s Olympic dream into a shared mission.

Today, Aditya balances his engineering studies with grueling practice sessions, facing rejections from organizations, but never losing faith. Supporting Aditya isn’t just about helping one athlete reach LA 2028—it’s about backing every Indian athlete who dares to dream despite the odds. It’s about believing in the journey before the medals, and being the reason those medals exist in the first place.

The Budget: What Your Support Covers

Aditya’s annual sporting expenses are approx. ₹10,00,000. Over the next 3 years, the full cost of his Olympic journey is projected at approx. ₹30,00,000. While this is the long-term need, we’re starting with a ₹10 lakh fundraising goal—enough to cover a full year of training, travel, nutrition, and equipment.Breakdown includes coaching fees, equipment (shuttles, shoes, strings, jerseys), diet, and tournament travel (national & international).

The Ask: Be Part of His Journey

This isn’t just a fundraiser—it’s a wake-up call.

Every four years, we question India’s Olympic medal tally, asking why we aren’t good enough. But the truth is, medals aren’t lost in the finals—they’re lost long before, when athletes like Aditya struggle alone without support.
We often blame the system, but real change begins with us—with the support, awareness, and belief we choose to give today.

Aditya’s story isn’t an exception; it’s a mirror reflecting the reality of countless athletes who train before sunrise, who fight invisible battles, and who keep believing even when the world doesn’t watch. By supporting Aditya, you’re doing more than helping one athlete—you’re helping shape the future of Indian sport. You’re choosing to back the dream before the spotlight, to build the foundation before the podium.

It’s time we stop regretting our medal tally every four years—and start doing something about it.
