Hello there!

I am Aditi, an Animal Activist from Navi Mumbai! I have been actively involved in rescue and rehabilitation of distressed animals since a long time now. I am also one of the core team members of NMIA Rescue Group that is working on the feeding and rehabilitation project of over 450 animals suffering with starvation and thirst at the Navi Mumbai Airport Site.

Thats me! From an Adoption Camp recently held for Indian Puppies

I am organising a Mega Reflective Collar Drive in Navi Mumbai on the 16th and 23rd of June 2019.

Most dogs come out in the night to hunt for food, protect their territories, chill with their friends and meet their favourite humans. Unfortunately many of them get run over by vehicles because of lack visibility in the night (also carelessness of drivers). There are multiple incidents involving stray dogs and two-wheelers, injuring both the rider and the animal.

Lily, my rescue dog, a victim of a road accident on Turbhe Highway.

The reflective collars also popularly known as glow collars or magic collars work similarly to the reflective signs on the road. These collars are made of reflective cloth that bounces off light from incoming cars and bikes in the dark. This makes the dogs visible to drivers, giving them ample time to slow down, preventing accidents, saving lives.

Here are few sample images from different sources -

The reflective collars on dogs not only saves the lives of these animals, but it also saves the lives of the drivers.
During monsoons, the visibility at night becomes poorer. Hence, I plan to cover maximum accident prone areas.

Each collar costs Rs 40. I have a target of tying collars on 1000 dogs over two weeks with the help of volunteers from Navi Mumbai.  We will be tying these collars on the dogs from Navi Mumbai Airport Site as well. I am at covering maximum numbers of dogs in and around Navi Mumbai. This is just a beginning!
