My name is Chinmayee Bajpai. I am raising funds for my husband, Abhinav Bajpai, 40 yr/male, who is currently admitted to the ICU at Zydus Hospital in Ahmedabad under the care of Dr. Ajit Sowani, diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). He was admitted on September 26, 2024, and may require an extended hospital stay on ventilator for minimum two months.
The treatment has already incurred cost of ₹7,76,722, with plasmapheresis costing ₹40,000 per day for five days. Currently, Intravenous Immunoglobulin Therapy is ongoing, estimated to cost ₹5,00,000. An additional ₹17,76,722 is anticipated for the next ten days of care. We are seeking to raise approximately ₹35 lakh (2 months expenses on ventilator in ICU) to cover these escalating medical expenses. Your support can significantly impact Abhinav's recovery journey.
My husband was recently diagnosed with this rare neurologic disorder in which a person’s own immune system attacks his nervous system, causing severe body paralysis. Currently his upper body is paralyzed including his face, hands, and internal vital organs like lungs rendering him fully dependent on a Ventilator to breathe. He is unable to perform essential body functions like swallowing, breathing, moving hands etc. His symptoms were first detected on Sept 25th 2024 and he was admitted to Zydus Hospital Ahmedabad, India on Sept 26th 2024 as his condition worsened. The doctors have advised that he requires a minimum 2 months on the ventilator and specialized treatments such as Plasma Exchange and Intravenous Immunoglobulin (IVIG) to complete the treatment.
His medical insurance supported him with the initial few days of hospitalization. The insurance coverage has now exhausted and the treatment will discontinue if we are unable to arrange the required funds.
