My son Abhijith, aged just under 19, is currently studying 2nd Semester B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering). He is a fighter, a dreamer, and deeply ambitious about building a meaningful career of his own.
I work as a temple priest, earning a very modest income. Until recently, we were managing our lives with contentment—but everything changed suddenly.
In early January 2026, Abhijith developed fever and cough. He was initially treated as an outpatient at Vathiyath Hospital, Perumbavoor, our hometown, from 05/01/2026, where he was given antibiotics. However, his condition worsened, and on 11/01/2026, he was admitted due to severe cough and breathing difficulties.
On 12/01/2026, he developed blood clots in his neck and head. A contrast-enhanced CT scan taken the same day revealed a tumor in his chest. The hospital authorities advised us to immediately shift him to a higher-level medical center capable of providing advanced cancer treatment. Accordingly, we took discharge on the evening of 12/01/2026.
Abhijith was then admitted to Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre (AIMS), Ernakulam, Kerala. There, he underwent extensive investigations, including:
• PET scan (whole body)
• Bone marrow examination
• Lymph node biopsy (neck)
• CSF analysis (spinal tap)
• MRI scan of the brain
• Ultrasound and contrast-enhanced CT scan of the chest
After detailed evaluation, doctors diagnosed him with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL).
The treatment required for this condition is extremely expensive, far beyond what I can afford with my limited income.
