About Sports Day

Previously we reached out to you to raise funds for Stationary Collection -2014. As part of our academic year, we are gearing up to conduct a massive sports day event for 650+ kids in rural parts of Kalsapakkam (Thiruvanamalai District).

Purpose of the sports day event is to give exposure to the kids who don't get a chance to interact with outside world & see today's competitive environment. Through this event we bring all the 650+ to a common platform and encourage them to compete and learn. We believe events like this increase the self-confidence of the kids and also motivates them. This is part of our extracurricular development curriculum in Grooming Center Program

Support Required : We are planning to conduct day long sports events and provide the kids with breakfast, lunch and necessary snacks/drinks during the events. Estimated budget is

1. Breakfast + Lunch for 650 kids & 150 volunteers : Rs 80,000
2. Snacks, Drinks & Water : Rs 25,000
3. Transportation : Rs 15,000
4. Prizes (for sports winners. All the gifts will be in the form of stationary) : Rs 30,000

So we are reaching out for your support to make this event successful and give these kids a chance to come and explore the outside world. You little contribution will make a lot of difference in these kid's career( who knows, we may even find a P.T Usha or Milka Singh in these kids) . Thanks for your support

About Gold Heart Foundation:

It all started when the initiator of this foundation, Mrs.Shree Priya, a teacher by profession, with an urge to do humble part of her in the society, visited schools from low income group areas extending her support to teach kids post school hours. That’s when she realized most of the kids in such schools drop out from schools and don’t even get a opportunity to complete their basic education. Lack of quality education and motivation from teachers/schools are primary reasons behind this. She, with the support of V-set and a band of volunteers formed Gold Heart Foundation and decided to take up this issue to give sunshine to these flowering buds, as the future of India is in their hands.

A group of graduates have teamed up as volunteers with eternal fire in their mind to battle this issue. Children from economically backward families, across schools are being groomed by Gold Heart Foundation to give special care and attention in their studies through its "Tuition Center Program". Gold Heart Foundation is working towards this cause for past 7 years

In Tuition Centers, we focus on imparting values and personality development of the underprivileged kids, apart from academics, with help of regular activities which help them develop skills and qualities over a period of time. We have approximately 850 students across 28 centers (3 in North Chennai & 25 centers in remote villages of Thiruvannamalai). Each center is coordinated by one gold heart teaching volunteer who takes care of teaching as well as running day-to-day operations of that particular center. These centers run 6 days a week post schools hours for 2 hrs.
