Sophia is a blessed girl...for sure she is one of the living example of God's mercy and blessings. Despite surviving on 2-3 dialysis weekly since last 14 years, she is surprisingly very optimistic, highly spiritual and positive. Hearing her voice and seeing her smiling face, one will certainly feel the energy and blessings.
She was diagnosed with failure of both her kidneys in 2003 when she was in 8th Grade in Kerala school, Cunning Road, New Delhi. Her mother that time was working as a Nurse in Aashlok Hospital, Safdarjung Enclave. Father was working as a Supervisor in a small lodge. They were living in a rented accommodation as most of the Keralite in Delhi those days. Her father could not bear this fate on his only child and lost his life in 2009. Many well wishers started helping them whatever way they could and with the help of a malayalam TV channel and family friends they could raise some funds in the beginning and managed sophia's treatment. Sophia's monther had no choice but to leave her job in 2012 to take care her only daughter. Sophia and her mother now live in their flat in Tughlakabad extension, managing everything all alone. They don't have relatives/anybody to live with them and take care of Sophia.
Sophia has been surviving on 3 dialysis in a week in Holy Family hospital Delhi since 2008. Their average monthly expenses now is 35-40,000 rupees. Sophia had 1-2 sponsors who helped them so far but their help also come to an end with some unexpected turns in their lives. They are now living in the hope that God will not leave them and will make his privileged and blessed people help them manage their lives.
