This Diwali, Light up 100 Rural Households in Meghalaya with Solar!

Hello Everyone,

My name is Swapnil and I belong to the 2015 batch of IAS. I have recently taken charge as SDM, Dadenggre in Meghalaya. During the last one week, I have attempted to travel to nearby villages and rural locations to understand the primary needs. The most urgent issue is of electricity.

Most of these villages are located on separate hillocks sometimes not easily accessible by roads. Electrification and providing the necessary load is currently an issue especially because of the terrain. An immediate solution can be the provision of solar lanterns to these households. It will give them a sense of security at night and students a chance to study after dusk.

On the occasion of Diwali, I propose an idea to light up 100 households in areas of Dadengree and Cherapunjee (where my batchmate Mr. Shantanu Sharma is posted as SDM). Each Solar Lantern would cost around 1500 INR including the logistics. Please contribute towards lightening up these villages. This Diwali, let's spread the light where it is needed the most.

Thanks in advance and Happy Diwali to you.
