Shekar Goud hails from a very humble background in Nalgonda, Telangana. .  On 24 December, 2006, Shekar met with an accident, he fell off the roof of his house and as the first reflex, he held on to an electrical wire. This electrical wire changed Shekar’s life forever.Shekar had no senses and has no recollection of what followed after that. All he could recollect was, the next morning, he woke up in a mortuary. He mustered the courage to walk out of the mortuary only to attract a lot of disbelief from the onlookers. Shekar had lost 9 golden hours which could have been used for his treatment. Shekar fought death and after 15 surgeries his right arm and left limb was amputated. Shekar is a role model of conduct and indomitable spirit. He made his foray into sports in 2013, when he ran for a 5 kms at the Airtel marathon after which he was sponsored by Dakshin Rehabilitation Center of Hyderabad for his walking leg and running blade.  Since then Shekar had participated in 11 marathons and various cycling races and rides. 

Shekar’s dream is to be a successful para-athlete and his immediate goal is to successfully complete the ‘Leh-Ladakh to Kanyakumari’ tour.

 

Approximately, 4100 kms. (From Leh, Ladakh to Kanyakumari)

35-40 days with a 5 days buffer in case of any injury / illness or weather condition to complete this journey.

Logistics support + stay + food + outreach activities = 8-10 k per day. (This is for 2 riders, 1 care taker and 1 SAG Vehicle driver)
