I am fundraising to my Daughter Nisha's Haplo-Identical transplant treatment Fundraiser

My daughter, Baby Tanvi was developing fever when she was first hospitalized on 21stOctober 2014 at Columbia Asia Referral Hospital, Bangalore. Through investigations, she was diagnosed as a case of Primary HLH (Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis) and treated using HLH 2004 protocol for which sheremained hospitalized till 1-Jan-2015.

Later, we were referred for further treatment to Mazumdar Shaw medical Center (NH) for Bone Marrow Transplant under the care of Dr. Sunil Bhat. Tests were conducted on my wife, son and me to find suitability of bone marrow donor, but unfortunately allof us tested negative. Indian Directory and other countries Stem Cell organisations were also approached, but we did not get any suitable donor. The doctorthen suggested us to go ahead with Haplo-Identical using TCR alpha /Betaand CD19 depletion technique with the Mother as donor.

The estimated cost for the Haplo-Identicaltransplant treatment is Rs. 30 to 32 lakhs.

The Insurance Company too denied providing coverage / reimbursement, as HLH is caused to due to genetic issues and with effect from 21st October 2014 does not cover such cases. Till date, I have spent nearly Rs. 11 lakhs towards treatment, diagnosis and investigations for bone marrow treatment.

I have been trying TO RAISE MONEY through various means but am finding it a very big challenge to arrange this huge amount. Whatever I had saved has been spent for this treatment andin addition I am now burdened with loans.

I make a heartfelt request to kindly help me in treating my daughter. I shall be greatly indebted.

The estimate has been attached for Haplo-Identical transplant treatment. Every contribution as little as Rs. 500 or more from you can help us. Please come forward and helpour 9 month old baby.

16th August 2015
Dear Supporters,

I would like to share in brief how my daughter and son went through tough days after a short span of birth.

We were the happiest family in January 2014, knowing we will have twins coming to our family after few months. On 27th August my wife delivered a daughter and a son; I can say, it was the happiest day in my life knowing we had a daughter and a son.

Our happiness did not last long. On 21st October, we hospitalised our daughter for having fever after immunisation in Columbia Asia. Then our dark days literally started, we never had a clue of what was going on as she was in ICU. She underwent bone marrow test twice and on November 10th, she was diagnosed with Primary HLH (Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis). For more than a month, I was away from office on leave, my family members were stunned to know about the disease and the kind of treatment required.

She was supposed to be given 10 Etoposide (Chemo) from 22nd November to 16th January 2015 and Dexamethasone (Steroid) with restricted entry into the hospital. My daughter was discharged from hospital on 1st January 2015. Since then till 14th May, every alternate week she was given the same medications.

We were referred to Dr. Sunil Bhat of Mazumdar Medical Centre (Narayana Hrudyala), Bangalore for Bone Marrow Transplant in February 2015. All three of us (myself, wife and son) were tested negative for donating bone marrow to our daughter and we tried for donors across globe from respective country directories, but unfortunately we did not get any donor suitable for our daughter. Then the doctor decided to go ahead with Haplo Identical Transplant with my wife being a stem cell donor to my daughter.

I opted to quit the job as pre & post - transplant, there were major challenges to keep my daughter away from infection. We were communicated to have no visitors visiting our house as to keep my daughter away from infection.

The journey was very tough psychologically, physically and financially. It was my friend, Mr. Chowdappa, who came to rescue and suggested raising funds through Milaap. I generously thank everyone who has helped me in this journey.

Your contribution helped me raise Rs. 17.66 lakhs which helped me meet the hospital and logistic expenses against Rs. 38 lakhs approx as on today, since October 2014.

My daughter Tanvi has been discharged from hospital. My family and I are extremely grateful to you for your kind and timely help in responding to my appeal and contributing generously for treating my ailing daughter TANVI. YOUR SUPPORT HELPED HER JOURNEY TOWARDS A NEW LIFE. With your timely help, the transplant procedures have been completed.  Tanvi is now under the care of  the doctor with regular check-ups for the next six months.

TANVI has united with our family and she is very happy with her younger brother TANAV

I thank you once again for your timely gesture in my daughter’s JOURNEY TOWARDS HER NEW LIFE.
