    Gulab Devi Singhvi

    from New Delhi, Delhi

My mother Mrs. Gulab Devi Singhvi whose age is 49 years has been admitted to BLK Hospital, Delhi since 15.05.2017. She contracted high grade fever on 8th may 2017. Initially we thought it to be a viral fever and started giving her paracetamol and antibiotics. But on 12th May 2017 she started complaining of Shortness in Breath and difficulty to walk. We took her to doctor on Saturday 13th May 2017 and got her X-ray done. To our surprise she developed Bilateral Pneumonia. We admitted her to Tirathram Hospital on Saturday 13th May 2017 evening and was put on oxygen support immediately as the parameter of oxygen in the blood was far below normal. Her health deteriorated further and she was put on ventilator. But despite that, her lung condition worsened posing an imminent threat to life. Hence, she was shifted to BLK Hospital, Delhi for Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) treatment. There she has been Diagnosed to have ARDS-Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (due to swine flu i.e. H1N1 infection) which damaged 95% of the lungs. Also during the treatment, the kidney functions also got affected and she is on Dialysis for renal dysfunction and hence she is Critically ill.

Currently admitted at BLK hospital, Delhi and undergoing life saving treatment in the form of ECMO (Extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation) and renal dialysis, the cost of treatment for 10-15 days is estimated to be around 30 lacs. At present we have already spend 9.5 lacs (5 Lacs from Personal Savings and Medical Insurance 4.5 Lacs).

We are hard pressed for funds as we are a middle class family from a small village of Assam and can hardly afford such high cost of treatment for my mother. I don’t want to lose my mother for the short of funds. I eagerly urge you to kindly contribute funds towards further treatment of my mother. We shall ever be thankful to you for your help. We seek your prayers.
