Its all over the world that environmental conditions in India are deteriorating each passing day. Cities, for a number of reasons, are worst affected. AQI of Delhi, the national capital of India, is really alarming. The Hon'ble Supreme Court of India had to ban sale of fire crackers in the National Capital Region recently during Diwali. Sale of air filters has gone up steeply. Number of people suffering with breathing problems are risen a lot in recent past. In short, people are suffering.
As an activist based in Delhi, I have observed a lot of loopholes in the system due to which we are not able to deal effectively with environmental pollution. Where a good system is in place, we have poor implementation. Even though every law and system should be strictly implemented, issues pertaining to lives of the citizens and visitors from all over the world, should be given priority and prime importance. I have decided to spark off a long term campaign to save our environment/nature from continued degradation. In this mission, I need your help.
To start with, we have initiated a campaign to save about 2,000 trees from indiscriminate cutting. More than 700 people are already supporting the campaign on change.org (Click to view the petition) A number of activities are being planned including but not limited to, awareness among the youth (schools and colleges), development of small urban jungles to act as natural filters, legal battles to get proper implementation of law and get new policies framed, get a team on board for real time reporting of on ground implementation of the principles of environmental protection, etc.
Since I believe in transparency, once this fundraiser is successful, I will be creating a dedicated website where a clear account of all the money received from you will be updated along with updates on various works being undertaken. This way, we all will be connected a long way and work as a virtual team together in protecting the precious environment and our future.
