I teach 25 second graders in a small community, Tingre Nagar in Pune. My students come from low income families where parents are either illiterate or not well-read. These kids don't have the same opportunities that we did when we were their age. The odds are against them and so many of them have already started believing that that are not capable of doing great things. But that is what we need to change. We need to show them that education is not a luxury. Poverty will not dictate destiny. In my two years of fellowship, I want to bring my kids to a place where they will grow on their own, no matter what the situation is or where they study. This fundraiser is to collect resources that will help me open my kids up to the world, because right now their world ends at the community. I want them to receive a holistic education and I have a dream to see them grow up to be responsible, aware and active members of the society. This is just an attempt of giving wings to their dreams, dreams of changing the world. :) Toys for grade levels 1,2,3,4 Books for levels 1-4 Stationery and regular assessments Introduce music, dance, indoor (puzzles, games, etc.) and outdoor games for the kids to expose them to different forms of arms so they are able to identify their strengths.
