Save a father, a husband, a son. Save this family.
My husband Pradipta Mukherjee, is 43 years old. Fondly known as Babusona, he is a caring husband, a loving father, and a helping friend.
He is employed with an IT & ITES company and is a cybersecurity expert based out of Bengaluru. But while he saved the virtual world from viruses, he himself got attacked by a deadly virus in the real world.
He was diagnosed with Covid on 6th May 2021 just three days after he got news of his father’s demise in Kolkata. He couldn’t be there to do his last rites as he had to be hospitalized. So were we, my 13-year-old son and me. COVID disrupted our family and slowly as we mother and son recovered, Pradipta was going into a critical condition. All three of us were admitted to Supurva hospital, Bengaluru on the 10th of May, 2021, and on 24th May he was shifted to Astra Hospitals’ ICU ward even as we got discharged after 14 days of hospital stay. On 25th May Pradipta was put on ventilation support and his condition has been deteriorating since. He was diagnosed with a secondary dangerous Multi Drug-resistant Klebsiella bacteria infection and acute kidney injury. He had a tracheostomy done as prolonged ventilation was on the cards.
Pradipta was moved to Aster CMI hospital on the 7th of June, for higher and better care. He has been on 100 Percent oxygen support for the last week since 1st June 2021. Severe COVID infection has caused infections of Klebsiella bacteria-induced Pneumonia and is one of the primary causes of trouble currently. Prolonged treatments did not bear much fruit and the situation deteriorated, being very grim currently. Doctors in Aster CMI have predicted that he will require prolonged ventilation and hospitalization.
Our finances including personal and corporate insurances and cash reserves are running high and dry to continue his treatment. I am a housewife with a 13-year-old student son and have no clue how to continue funding my husband’s treatment. We have already incurred 16.95 lacs including cash and insurance for his treatment so far and only have 6 lacs of insurance further. It is estimated that he will have at least a month’s stay in Aster CMI, the estimated expenditure to be about 35-40 lacs. It has now become essential to his survival.

We want him to survive, and this comes with a huge financial burden and stress. He is the only child of his parents both of whom have passed away. He is also the sole bread earner of his family.

ICU charges at the hospital (30 days x Rs 80,000) - 24 Lacs
Ward Charges (10 Days x Rs 35 Thousand) - 3.50 Lacs
Ventilation & Miscellaneous - Can’t really put a number to it
Estimated treatment duration: 1 month and upwards.

This is considering he is in critical care support for a minimum duration of 40 Days.
