Bangalore Oniyavara Seva Coota (BOSCO), more commonly known as BOSCO is a project of the Salesians of Don BOSCO (SDB). Since 1980, BOSCO has worked with over 2.5 lakhs street children and spread its wings across the city of Bangalore through 9 of its own centers. It's important to BOSCO that the children and young at Risk, are provided with education(formal education and Bridge schooling), care and legal assistance in order to protect them from exploitation and abuse on the streets. Our mission is to encourage the young at risk to join the mainstream of society as educated and productive citizens by partnering with the children in their daily struggle to grow off the streets.

How will my funds be used?
In every city that we occupy, outside of the safety of our homes live children on the streets, exposed to daily assaults, of nature, of physical and sexual abuse, of loneliness and hunger. As per a survey conducted by Don Bosco National Forum for the Young at Risk and Don Bosco Research centre, Mumbai in 2013, every day, there are close to 70 run away children who reach the city of Bangalore. Every year, BOSCO is able to rescue and rehabilitate nearly 6500 of these children who stumble on the streets of Bangalore city.
70% of the children rescued (4500 out of 6500 in a year)by BOSCO from the streets of Bangalore are rehabilitated back to their families within a week. But, there remain 30% of children who do not have a home to go to, or do not want to go back to their dysfuncitonal families where they do not have sufficient love, affection and care they need and deserve. These children undergo informal and formal education under the guidance and care of BOSCO. BOSCO’s firm conviction backed with the past experience is built on the ideology that every street child is an ‘intelligent being’ and quality education is an inalienable service and a mission that can be offered to a child in a most fitting manner which will ultimately lead him to a dignified way of living. Once they complete their schooling there still remain young adults who are orphaned or are unable to return to their families. Each of them have dreams and aspirations for their lives and wish to continue with Higher Education.
Through your contribution we aim to extend higher educational support to 8 girl children who were once rescued from the streets of Bangalore. Being a non profit organization, today our ability to offer quality higher education to these children is severely tested due to our financial constrains. Thus ,BOSCO requests possibilities of continuing the support to these children to pursue their higher education.
The Higher Education Programme not only aims to enroll youth in Colleges. This project will also support the youth with basic accommodation, books, food and other extra-curricular activities. Please find below some of the Objectives, Activities and Outcomes of this Project.We request a support of Rs. 730400/- for the Higher Education, Basic living expenses and Mainstreaming of 8 Girl children.
