For many underprivileged children in India, education is a distant dream, with no access this fundamental right. We have to chip away at the barriers towards educating children - the heavy burden of tuition fees, unsanitary living conditions and safety concerns often result in the lack of adequate access to schooling.
As a result, child marriage and child labor often become substitutes to schooling that leaves slums caged in a prison of gender-based violence, a weaker economy without half its productive workforce and ill health. Since over 30% of Hyderabad's population lives in slums,
The Today's Kalam Foundation's campaign is an initiative that aims to build education centers to ensure that underprivileged children gain access to holistic educations, and avoid becoming victims to child marriage and labor.
As people who play our small part in driving social change, it's important to understand the significance of donating.
Educating children through Kalam Centers will not only increase employment opportunities by dramatic proportions, it will also provide children with knowledge about family planning, employment, schooling and health opportunities. This will foster economic growth in India and thus eradicate poverty.
We need your help. No contribution is too small. I look forward to your donation to educate and empower children.
