Story

Drought! Over the past 3-4 years, Nanded district of Marathwada region has been experiencing severe drought in the area. The people are suffering from a long dry spell and erratic rainfall which are the effects of climate change in the area. Earlier the region was known as assured rainfall belt collecting around 900 mm of rainfall starting from the month of June to September. Unfortunately, the cycle of nature has changed and disturbed the whole life style and general standard of living in the area.

The major issues occurring due to the climate change are related to Food, Fodder and Water. Agriculture is the main source of income for the farmers. As stated earlier, the drought like situation has made the farmers economically challenged.

The current need of the farmers is to avail seed and fertilizers for the ‘Kharif’ season. The farmers cannot get the benefit of loan from the bank. Moreover, the financial institution, micro finance and lenders charge an annual percentage rate (APR) which is not affordable for them.

The farmers need to be supported by proving seed and fertilizers to mitigate the problem. We have selected Cluster of 10 villages (Kathewadi-Kushawadi, Hottal, Gawandgaon, Rampur, Lingankerur, Yergi, Devapur, Shivni, Ballure and Nagral) Tq. Degloor, Dist. Nanded. Each farmer needs at least Rs. 3500 on an average for sowing and buying fertilizers. Each village consists of 100 beneficiaries. Considering the need, we request you to support this genuine cause.

Thank you.
