Help construct Shelter Home for rescued child & women from Trafficking

Rangu Souriya is the founder of Kanchanjunga Udhar Kendra (KUK), a registered NGO since 2004, working to fight against Human Trafficking. Kanchanjunga Uddhar Kendra has till date rescued over 900 plus girls and minors from brothels and domestic servitude across the country. What started as a voluntary involvement in the rescue of a 13 years old girl from bonded servitude at the house of a businessmen, Rangu Souriya has never looked back since then. With a complicated nexus between the traffickers and corrupt officials, a weak legal justice system, and deep rooted gender inequality in the society, rescuing and reintegrating trafficked women is a daunting task, often involving dangerous situations of threats and intimidation. Rangu’s life is not different as she constantly receives threat from goons and mafia coupled with the lure of handsome sum of money. However, set with a mission to ‘free women from sexual bondage and exploitation’, Rangu Souriya continues to make a positive impact on the society and endeavours to make the world a better place.

Based out of Siliguri in North Bengal, Kanchanjunga Udhar Kendra has to deal with international crime syndicates engaged in child trafficking child different parts of India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Bangladesh. With it close proximity to international borders and good connectivity to Indian mainland, Siliguri is the transit hub for major sex rackets arising out of these region. Besides leading all rescue efforts, Rangu Souriya is actively involved in spreading awareness about child trafficking in rural communities and slum areas in the city. With strong support from police and civil authorities in the region, Kanchanjunga Udhar Kendra, has been actively mobilizing support from students, NGOs, and local communities to spread awareness about this evil trade. KUK and Rangu's immediate requirement is to build a "Rehabilitation Home" in Silliguri, West Bengal, which is pending since 10 years due to lack of Funds. If the home is build, the rescued girl child can be rehabilitated, bring them back to normalcy, skill them and give them a new hope, a new dream. In recognition of her efforts towards women safety and empowerment, Rangu Souriya has been conferred with over 22 awards from various regional organizations.
