Story

Every year a large number of birds are injured and eventually killed every year due to the glass coated manjha used in kite flying in Jaipur every year on the Makar Sankranti festival on around the 14th of January every year. To save these birds we organise two bird treatment camps at Jaipur. We have been doing this work for over 7 years now. Every year we rescue over 600 birds, including birds of prey, owlets, parrots and pigeons. We also get some calls involving monkeys etc. We have a dedicated helpline number that people call on to inform about an injured/severed bird and our volunteers on 2 wheeler (s), scout through the city attending such calls that are handled by 2 other volunteers that take turns to attend such SOS calls. We spend close to Rs. 2,00,000.00 every year on this activity and the funds re used for buying Medicines and Medical Supplies, Making New Additional Cages, Managing Volunteers by reimbursing their fuel costs and providing refreshments etc. We also use these funds for setting up small make shift rescue shelter and an OT where we do pinning and suturing for birds and injured small animals. We raise these funds from local donations and poster sponsors and by selling small articles like key chains, pens etc...
