Help flood victims of Assam

Every year floods hit the people of Assam hard causing a huge damage to their lives and livestock. With more than 27 Districts flooded and 40 lacs people suffering largely, more than 71 people have already lost their lives, this year. In many areas, people are living in shelter camps. There is a big scarcity of food as well as other essential items in these camps and other flood effected areas. Not just humans, even there is a dearth of animal food and shelter for the domestic animals. At Kaziranga National Park, there have been number of incidents that saw the helpless deaths of wild animals. Hectares of Agricultural land are under water. But, inspite of all these, the victims have received none but ignorance of the Ruling Governments. With a pandemic situation all around, when everyone is talking about new normals in regard to changes in the way of live, flood in Assam is an Old-Abnormal that never tends to stop. The plights of the people never ended. And with a lockdown going on, it is turning out to be harsh than ever.                                                                  At this hour of crisis, SFI tries with all its might to reach out to the people in need and help them in every possible way. So, this is our appeal towards you to contribute generously to this fundraiser and help the badly-hit flood victims of Assam.

Dear All,

Before fundraising in Milaap, we shared our account details in our sources as in various places of Assam, immediate help was needed for the flood victims. With a limited amount raised through social media platforms the first drive of flood relief campaign was already organised by SFI Kamrup in Rangia town.

On 18th July 2020, we went to the Hasantuk area of Rangia and help a few families by providing essential items.

From 14th to16th July 2020, SFI Kamrup in Rangia town help nearly 200 families from Gogmalasa, Jayantipur village who are staying at relief camps (because their homes are underwater!)
SFI All Assam President Kashyap Choudhury at relief camps.
Those who understand the Assamese can go through this video given below uploaded by our State President in his Facebook account to know the pain and suffering they are going through.

This is not the first time we are helping flood-affected people of Assam. We have been doing so for many years. But, this is the first time we are raising funds through an online mode. Previously, we went among people with donations boxes and collected the amount directly from people. This year is an exception. Exception because of the ongoing pandemic. We are unable to reach people to ask for donations and this the only way we could reach you, people. Attaching some pictures from previous years.

The above pictures are from Hajo, Assam where we organised free medical checkup centre for the flood-affected people last year.

These pictures are from the Tinsukia District of Assam when in 2017 we went to the flood-affected areas to provide foods to victims.

This one is from Jorhat, Assam in 2017 when we went to flood-affected areas with water bottles and foods.

We will keep on posting about our relief drives. Please help us sharing this among friends. The netizens are our last hope! Thank you.
