AIM: To procure 4000 square yards of land to provide residential facilities for 200 underprivileged children from Uttarakhand (India).

OUR VISION: Purkal Youth Development Society (PYDS) was started by Mr. GK Swamy with the aim of enhancing the lives of the disadvantaged rural youth in the lower Himalayas by providing them access to holistic education. From its humble beginnings with 4 children in 1998, the organisation now caters to the needs of over 400 children from 35 villages surrounding Purkal, Uttarkhand (India). All the children are provided with world-class education, health care and proper nutritious meals throughout the day. All these facilities are completely free of any costs for all the children.

To further its mission of empowering the rural community through education, PYDS now seeks to provide residential facilities to its students. Our students come from economically disadvantaged households with illiterate family often not being able to make ends meet. Their home are dark and congested spaces that are neither conducive for studies nor help in the holistic development of the child.

Life in a single room without electricity is beset with difficulties. PYDS is helping children like her by providing them with a hostel where they will receive the care and guidance that will enable them to take baby steps towards a better future.

By providing the children with a residential facility, we wish to provide an environment that will foster better physical, mental and social development of the child. We intend to provide an enabling environment and nurture our students’ growth in a holistic manner, so that they may excel in their lives. These underprivileged children have amazing potential to succeed in life, but without proper care and mentoring their talents may go to waste.

WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU? As a small not-for-profit organisation, there is not much we can offer by way of tangible, materialistic gifts. But we hope to convey our gratitude to our donors through meaningful long-term rewards.

This is our first campaign for the purchase of land for the construction of a hostel. Once we collect this amount, we will make the down payment and enter into an agreement for the purchase. We will need to raise more money to complete the deal. This will be done through subsequent campaigns.
