The Turning Tide is an environmental group which has planted and monitored over 100 tree saplings on peoples private properties, in Mumbai. We are in the process of becoming an NGO so that we would be able to create a bigger impact and truly be the change that is required.

Studies have shown that it takes roughly 6 mature trees in order to purify enough air for 1 person to breath.

We have funded this initiative through the collection and sale of recyclable paper from people who really care about making a change. This includes news papers, magazines, old books, shredded paper, text books, phone books, study books, writing pads, collected rough paper, etc.

In this great city of Mumbai we sadly have to contend with very bad air quality, high levels of particulate matter and emissions which leads to a variety of respiratory, cardiac and many other diseases. Lately there has been a tremendous rise in the ruthless felling of mature trees on public land in the name of development, which is leading to less air purification, failing monsoons, water cuts, rise in temperature, etc. We live in a mega city with huge water needs and rapid expansion.

It is our dream to plant and monitor 500 mid sized tree saplings in Mumbai this year, in private properties where they will be cared for. Mature trees can process air and produce oxygen 70 times more efficiently than plants.  With your help and generosity we will be able to make Mumbai, our home a bit more livable.
