    This fundraiser will benefit

    Punam Singh

    from Vadodara, Gujarat

Punam Singh is a retired computer teacher. She has taught in numerous institutions in her sundry courses serving as a computer teacher, an administrator, a Hindi teacher, a Sanskrit teacher, a Social Studies teacher and often as a Science teacher too for Primary and Secondary Grades. Being a wife of an Air Force guy, she had the benefit of travelling and teaching at various places in India like Chandigarh, Kasauli, Bangalore, Delhi, Jaisalmer and Vadodara. She has taught in schools like Air Force School (Jaisalmer), American School of Vadodara and Parivar Vidyalaya (Vadodara). She has also been a part of many institutes as a computer lecturer and administrator.

With more than 15 years of experience in teaching line, she has all the required know-how of how things work in a school, and what it takes to run one. She has acted as a Vice-Prinicipal too on numerous occasions. Even after retiring, she took education home, teaching children from poor background, charging only a meagre fee, and ensuring them the best of education. Those who used to struggle with their academics are now well placed in their dream colleges, and their parents couldn't be happier for that.

In one of her intimate conversations, she had confided about following her dream about making a difference. It crushes her to see "the less fortunate" struggle with technology, to see children roaming around streets not knowing about how to make it in this big bad selfish world, to find dreams getting shattered when people prefer begging to earning daily bread rightfully. Women from all strata come to her for advice, and she has understood that the root cause of everything in our country is "Education".

She is currently a housewife now, religious in person and is constantly surrounded with 20 good and strong headed women who are willing to follow her footsteps. They are forever with her on her path towards seeking light and doing the right thing.

With dreams and hopes to help the unfortunate out, she wishes to open an Ashram like school, a non-profit endeavour, of course, in various villages across the country that will not only educate children but will also take care of uneducated men and women. It will be a temple of learning where the helpful will be hired, the poor will be fed at the end of the day, and they will be well educated so to make a decent living, and bring meaning to their life.

Building a school means investment, that can only kickstart with the purchase or leasing of land, then constructing everything from scratch. Her team of 20 can immediately start the teaching work, and inspire others to follow suit. Yes it could be an eye-opener for more people to see the good in this venture which might succeed in luring more people into opening a similar kind of non-profit organization. If this rivets a crowd, it wouldn't be a surprise to see similar schools flourishing all across the country.

I believe in her, in her commitment to make a difference, her friends who are strong willed in their opinions too, and wish to see the change hammer out. Being a mother of two children, she is keen on feeding mouths. She is keen to provide the homeless a home, the unfed food enough to make it another day, and most importantly 'love' to teach them that there's a place for everybody.

Creating a school will involve colossal investments in the form of:

  1. Land - 3000000
  2. Construction - 2000000
  3. Basic Amenities: Separate Toilets and Drinking Water Facilities - 500000
  4. Children Playground - 500000
  5. Music Instruments - 500000
  6. Food - 2000000
  7. Books, Notebooks and Stationery Items - 1000000
  8. Electricity, Fans, LEDs etc. - 500000
I am not sure how much what is going to cost, but I do know land and construction are two of the biggest hurdles that would require a lump sum of more than 50,00,000. Since this entirely for a good cause, I am going to be completely transparent on how much what is going to cost, and will keep updating the progress about the building of the school.

If you think her cause is just, please donate and make this dream of hers come true. All she is waiting for is a nod from the Universe.
