Tackle the problem of pollution and sanitation at the same time!
WE want to make a difference and we need YOUR help!
Every year in the month of November, the Air Quality Index levels of Delhi rise to 900, as we encounter black skies due to this large-scale pollution. A major contributor of this is Stubble burning, the practice of intentionally setting fire to the straw after harvest. While “jahaan soch vahaan shauchalaya” maybe be a well known slogan, it is unfortunate that in India the pertinent issue of lack of sanitation and open defecation is still prevalent. For a one stop solution, Enactus Hansraj came up with a novel venture, Nirmaan under Project Vriddhi, which aims to build washrooms using boards made of stubble. Through Nirmaan, we also aim to promote the concept of sustainable construction.
Enactus is a worldwide organisation that aims to bring about social change through entrepreneurship. Enactus Hansraj, the branch of Enactus at Hansraj College, Delhi University carries forward this spirit of social entrepreneurship. Project Vriddhi, by Enactus Hansraj, endeavours to mitigate the widely prevalent issue of stubble burning by putting it to alternative, commercially viable uses under each of its three verticals of exercise namely Tabdeel (stubble to mushrooms), Shilpkari (stubble to handicrafts) and Nirmaan(stubble to washrooms).
Till date we have set up two washrooms successfully, the first in Arthala, Uttar Pradesh back in January 2019 and the second in Rajinder Nagar, New Delhi. We also have the construction of our third washroom in Derawal Nagar underway.
As a student run organisation, we always face a shortage of funds, and the process of erecting washrooms is an expensive affair. We thus need your help to generate funds to help us set up more washrooms.
Help us take this initiative to newer heights, help us bring about positive change in the lives of people, help us mitigate the problem of stubble burning.
