A Unique Budget School trying to connect RURAL children to Mainstreams

Background:
Jharkhand being a backward state in terms of literacy having literacy rate of just 67.2 %, takes the state to the rank of 25th in the list of Indian states. The very reason for this backwardness is that, since times, the maximum parts of the state have been overlooked because of which people here got diverted towards the wrong ways of demanding their rights like Naxalism and other criminal activities. The girls of this state have the highest rate of getting trafficked and indulging into prostitution, the reason being the poverty as well as lack of education among the community. Even government agencies found to be ineffective in bringing some development in the interior villages of this state due to prevailing Naxalist activities. Due to the presence of schools which are mostly run on an adhoc basis, the children of these areas found the illegal ways of earning livelihood more comfortable. Moreover, parents also found themselves helpless in preventing their children to get involved into these sorts of activities.

In order to break these shackles, Pratigya has set up a budget English Medium school in a rural village namely, Chandapara in Khunti district of Jharkhand state. The school is now in the verge of ending its first academic session and has been quite able to bring about an impact of the children studying here mostly from the families of first generation learners. Moreover, the children have performed outstanding well in their school examinations, proving themselves confident towards the challenge of making them competitive to other privileged children. Pratigya has also been able to sensitize the village about the importance of education in one's life, the result of which the villagers have gifted the organisation with a community center equipped with computer, electricity and library facility, where the children use to do combined studies everyday from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Our Programme Goals:
The objective of this programme is to develop an English medium budget school in an underprivileged village and initiating the basic education to the children. Dear Supporters,

Thanks you so much for your valuable support towards the development of our school established for providing a better quality and value based education to the underprivileged children in some extremist belts of Jharkhand.

As you might be aware that there were some basic requirements for our school like a sound system using which children can add a quality to their performances. Hence, with the help of generous people like you and platform like Milaap, we have been able to raise funds for a sound system for our school. Some part of the bill has been contributed to us in cash and some through Milaap.

Thanking your,
Regards,
