Women farmers / Single Mothers livelihood support

Ask for an update

This campaign is to raise funds to assist women farmers in Anathapur district of Andhra pradesh state. Most of these women are single mothers, farmer widows and some who have been rescued from human trafficking.
Possible livelihood opportunities are
1. Cattle     (around Rs, 40,000).
2. An investment loan for group farming (Rs 1,50,000 for a group of 10)
3. Goat/Sheep ( A pair costing around Rs 15,000)

The Rs 350000 raised from this campaign will benefit 10 families. 200000 to purchase 5 cattle (Approx Rs 40,000 each) and Rs 150000  to lease the land (This model is tested with a pilot project recently and proved very effective). Once the group becomes self sustained the investment money will be used for next group of 10 in the priority list. The beneficiaries details will be emailed to all donors accordingly along with the project updates from time to time.

we can reach the target if
5000 of us can donate rs 70 each or
1000 of us can donate rs 350 each or
500 of us can donate rs 700 each

Bhanuja cheruvu (Founder of REDS organization and also state convener for rythu swarajya vedika)  is an activist who has been working in this area for the past 15 years to help these families by assisting them through livelihood support, community kitchens to feed the children and others in need, helping them in applying/obtaining pensions and other provisions that they are denied because of negligence of respective officials, ,skill development workshops, seminars and many other activities. Recently they have come up with a pilot project of organic farming by forming small cooperatives and grouping 10 women to work together and share the produce of the farm. with an investment loan of rs 1,50,000 they were able to lease 8 acres of land and start natural/organic farming. while the project is shaping up good, they are worried about daily survival for the families, hence an alternative is much needed to keep their families get through until the completion of the project. One best alternative is to provide them cattle through which they can sell milk/dairy and generate daily income. This group of 10 may require 5 cattle (each costing rs 40,000).  There are currently 94 families who are in dire need of support for livelihood and we will be assisting 10 families from the 94 based on the priority of their current living conditions. Once the group becomes self sustained the investment money will be used for next group of 10 in the priority list.
