Nirmiti- an Artistic Creation is a group created by 11 young and passionate Bharatnatyam dancers with one motive of spreading the love and art of classical dance. Apart from being trained classical dancers, we are students, professionals and home makers, sharing the same love for dance. We are working in this genre of dance independently for past 3 years. We have performed at many national and international dance festivals and shows. We have given national performances at various dance festivals like Modhera, Konark, Somnath, Vibrant Gujarat and international performances at countries like Japan, Austria, Singapore, Germany, Portugal and Indonesia to name a few.
Our performances involve expressing stories and issues through dance. A few noteworthy creations of our group are
- ‘Astitva- The Journey of a Woman’ which deals with the issues like ‘Dudhpiti’ (killing the girl child), human trafficking, sexual abuse and domestic violence.
- ‘Panchmail’ that expresses the concept of ‘Unity in Diversity’ through dance. We have demonstrated five different classical dance forms i.e. Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Odissi, Mohiniattam and Manipuri in one dance. We reaffirm the fact that Indian culture is united through various classical dance forms.
- ‘Navrasa’ is a dance drama where the primary nine human emotions are depicted through historical and contemporary incidents.
In addition to this, we have also been conducting self organised shows consecutively for past two years. We also plan to have another self organised show on 4th February, 2017 for which we request you to extend a helping hand and join us in this aim of ours of spreading the traditional art of classical dance and extend its reach. For all our shows, we incur various expenditures in terms of costumes designing, make up, light and sound effects, stage booking, stage set up, show arrangements, music etc. A part of this expenditure is borne by us in our personal capacity and the rest is incurred through donations and sponsorships rasied by us.
