My Dad (Narsing Rao) is fighting a battle with CIDP. Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) is a rare form of Nervous Disorder wherein the nerves from below the neck become suddenly weak thereby making a healthy person absolutely immobile.
The person losses his strength and senses in nerves of hands and legs. They can't lift their hands/legs, can't stand, can't pick up a pen, etc. It is a very rare kind of nervous disorders and happens 1 in a Million people. Unfortunately, for us the 1 is my Dad. I wish this does not happen to anyone.
My dad is strong willed and we are supporting him for everything like feeding to everything. It could happen to anyone from 1 year old onwards and this has no bearing of age or any previous health history. My Dad though 83 years of age has been a healthy and fit person without BP / Sugar even at this age.
He has been a regular Walker right from his childhood. He used to walk 5 KM's every day until CIDP happened to him. He sees himself to live longer, healthy for many more years to come and we do not want to discourage him. The treatment of this nervous immune disorder is very expensive, time-consuming and needs continuous support.
While my dad had insurance, it lapsed, as most insurance companies don't give health insurance beyond 80 years. My dad has been in the apollo hospital for the last 4 months and fighting it out. He would be an idea to a few patients like him who are fighting a rare disease called CIDP.
