My wife who is 29 years old is diagnosed with cancer. It came like a lighting. On Sep 3rd, 2018 night, after dinner, she got a severe headache. She said, "In my entire life, I had never experienced a pain of this magnitude". I gave her 2 to 3 pain killer tablets in an interval of 2 hours. The pain just did not reduce.
I went clueless. The pain had surpassed all the effects of the drugs. On 4th Sep 2018, I took her to the hospital and admitted in emergency. It took 3 to 4 bottles of pain killer to bring the pain in to control. Post pain management, brain MRI was done. That's when our entire world changed. The MRI report showed 2 lumps in her brain. She was declared to have brain tumour.
On 7th September 2018, got a PET CT scan done. Already we were in a shock. The PET scan report was even more shocking. The cancer had spread throughout the body. The medical term for this condition is called "Metastases". Apart from the brain it invaded liver, lungs, salivary glands, lymph nodes and entire left leg.
By the time we got to know that there is cancer, the cancer was in its 4th [Last] stage. The doctor suggested for chemotherapy for body and radiotherapy for the brain. Before that we were asked to get a biopsy done for identifying the primary source of cancer. Unfortunately, the IHC report of biopsy failed to detect the primary. Statistically, she was one among those 5 per cent of cancer patients whose primary source remains undetected. She was totally shattered. She said, "Thanks to God that at least in this regard he is making me feel special".
She has got 10 cycles of radiations done for brain and 1 cycle of chemo for body. She feels pain in her body all the time. Sometimes the pain shoots up and it becomes so excruciating that tears flow uncontrollably. At this point, no pain killer helps and will be left with no option other than waiting for the pain to subside which normally takes 24 hrs.
Now she has started accepting to leave with pain. Not sure how many days she has to go through this. Not sure how may treatments and surgeries she has to go through. But I am determined to fight for her. I will fight to my last breath. I am glad to have such a beautiful family and friends who are constantly extending unconditional support to me in this fight. I always wonder how humans get connected when in pain. Even farthest of the farthest relations matters so much to me now. Every wish and support from human kind is so valuable.
I have started documenting this journey in this blog as much as possible. I have attached the reports and the treatment she is going through. Hope someone will be helped with this. And at the same time I hope some will extend a help to us in this fight against cancer. I believe sharing knowledge is the key and hope for the cancer cure.
Like any battle needs fund, this fight against cancer is no exception. No contribution is small. Every contribution of fund is priceless to us. I will ever be grateful for your help. Wish human kind will get a cure for cancer very soon and no one will suffer from cancer in their life.
