Hi,

I volunteer with The Candle Project (TCP), Mumbai. TCP is a volunteer initiative that engages more than 170 children of urban slums in holistic learning through weekend classes.

For my birthday this year, I want to take 70 grown-up kids from our higher batches (ages 11 to 17) to an organic farm village in Dahanu.

What the tour includes

The kids will benefit from interactions with experienced farmers and an experiential tour of organic farms, techniques of wormi-culture, bee-keeping, rain water-harvesting and fish-farming. It also introduces them to the painting techniques of the Warli tribe.

A big chickoo farm with a treat of chickoo pickles and a wholesome meal of organic food is included!

Why am I fundraising?

Our children come from financially disadvantaged families that live crammed in a 4x4, with poor living conditions. We want to give them the chance to breathe fresh, unpolluted air, while learning about the natural ecosystem and having some fun.

Since TCP is completely volunteer-based, we need help to meet the costs of this trip.

Funds required

It will cost Rs. 900 per child, inclusive of bus travel, breakfast and lunch and the tour cost. We therefore aim to raise Rs. 63,000 to be able to take all our 70 children for the tour.
