    This fundraiser will benefit

    Md Moiz Qureshi

    from Hyderabad, Telangana

“In the past 5 days, my son had 2 surgeries. But, he is still very critical in the ICU. He still needs 2 more operations and there are chances that he’ll stay in the ICU for more than 2 weeks. My son can’t even breathe normally right now, and I feel so helpless. I don’t know how much more he’s going to suffer.” – Mohammad, Moiz’s father

Life has taken a turn for the worse for 12-year-old Moiz who was active and playful just two weeks back and is now, struggling to even breathe while in the ICU. His lungs, which are abnormally filled with fluids, are at high risk of failing unless he remains in the ICU and undergoes additional operations. His father, a poor and uneducated waiter, is torn apart because he can’t seem to help save his son at all.

Moiz’s lungs are filled with fluids and his condition deteriorated rapidly

Just around two weeks ago, Moiz complained of a sharp pain in his chest every time he took a breath. After tests, Mohammad and his wife Parveen were shocked to find out that their eldest son was suddenly suffering from pleural effusion, which is a condition where there was an unusually large amount of fluid filled up in his lungs. The 12-year-old had to be rushed into the ICU before his lungs could develop serious infections or stop working.

“This happened so quickly. It was around the start of Ramzan and he was just feeling so breathless too. Every time he took a breath, it would hurt his chest. Also, he looked really bale, as if there was no blood in him and he was so weak. Even if he walked a little, he’d breathe harder and that would hurt his chest much more. It was like he couldn’t do anything besides lying down.” – Mohammad

Mohammad and Moiz

Moiz has already had 2 surgeries but is still critical

Within just 5 days of admission, Moiz has already undergone 2 surgeries where over 500 mL of fluid was removed. But, the 12-year-old’s condition still hasn’t improved. To survive, he has to remain in the ICU for more than 2 weeks and undergo additional life-saving operations which would remove more of the thick fluid from his lungs.

“He’s still in so much pain despite the ventilator and the surgeries. He keeps asking me ‘when can I go home?’ and I have no answer. I don’t know how many more surgeries he has to go through. This is so difficult to watch. In the past 5 days, I’ve cried so much and I’m so stressed too. I haven’t even had anything to eat or drink in days. Moiz has to stay here because otherwise he has high chances of developing a life-threatening lung infection.” – Mohammad

Mohammad is desperate to save Moiz but can’t help him

Every day, only the ICU costs are over Rs. 7000. I’m a worker at a restaurant and I earn a maximum of Rs. 400 a day. He has to remain in the ICU for weeks if he has to live. It’s hard for me to even a day’s cost so how will I provide for so many weeks. In addition to this, there are medicines, operations, and more. I can’t even ask my relatives because they’re as poor as me, if not worse. I’m an honest man, I don’t know why such things are happening to my family.” – Mohammad

How you can help

Apart from providing for 2 other children and his wife, Mohammad is left with no resources. He is desperate to gather around Rs. 3.85 lakhs to save his son, but he, simply, cannot do so without your help.

This is a supporting campaign. Contributions made to this campaign will go towards the main campaign.
