    This fundraiser will benefit

    1000 Families

    from Bangalore, Karnataka

Erappa & his wife Bhagya with their 2 children live in a place called Santhe Bachahalli, in KR Pete taluk where they are leading a very tough life.

Erappa is a daily wage worker who is earning a living by running a portable sugarcane juice shop in Kolar which is close to around 200 kms one side. He visits his house only during the weekends. During the week, Bhagya is the one who is looking after and attending to their children’s needs right from helping them study and complete their homework whilst also doing the household chores.

Because of the electricity situation - which is very unreliable in these parts, the children are sent to the nearest town for tuitions as the cost of using kerosene & candles cost them close to around 600/- per month which is tough to manage.

During the exam season, the children find it very hard to focus and study using candles.

Upon them getting solar based home lighting systems, their children are studying from their houses itself and the couple have had no need to spend on kerosene and candles. They have now started savings.

Their houses were lit up in December 2017 and it has been close to 10 months now and they are very happy with the same.

In the last couple of years, thanks to your valuable contributions, we have impacted close to 1300 such families in the grid deprived areas by giving them access to kerosene-free, candle-free lighting.

These people have now completely stopped their dependency on usage of kerosene and candles and have started saving the money that was being used for it.

Now , this year 2018, we would want to continue our annual program of raising funds from our supporters and well wishers to increase the number of families from our existing 1300.

For the same, we would request you to help light up one house.

It takes around $50/ INR 3500/-  to light up a family and help save them from the harmful kerosene fumes.

Help Light up the future.

Help Environment.

The situation

Over 1.3 billion people worldwide live without electricity, not including those with electricity that isn’t reliable. Within India alone, over 300 million people lack this basic amenity. Electricity brings many advantages to villagers that are completely off grid.

“We live in complete darkness” said Balaji, a village laborer who we met on a recent visit to Vittalapuram, a village on the outskirts of Chennai.
Any appliance that needs electricity is not an option to these people and many of these areas have major challenges to get grid electricity. They rely on Kerosene powered lamps which are hazardous to their health as well as their safety.

The goal is to get these people clean and safe electricity through solar energy so that they are not waiting for grid electricity.

The Project

As a second phase to our successful program , Light up the future of a child 2 years ago, Mesha Energy Solutions with support from the Department of Science and Technology (Government of India ) is working on a project to bring basic lighting and cell phone charging to 1000 households across grid deprived areas in 9 different regions within India. Through this project, We are trying to raise 6 Lakhs ($ 9000) , which will support 150 homes, to augment funds that is raised from programs like CSR and other initiatives.

The grid deficient areas identified are in:
•North East – Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland
•East – Odisha
•South – Karnataka, Andaman & Nicobar island
•North – Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand
•West - Rajasthan
