    Menstrual Hygiene For Underprivileged Women

    from New Delhi, Delhi

While Hamari pahchan NGO has launched many projects, the most interesting and amazing one is the 'Sukhad project'. The project helps women with better menstrual hygiene and also provides work to underprivileged women under the ‘Skill Development Project’. Menstrual health is a matter of human rights but India has been struggling with even talking about it openly. According to the National Family Health Survey , India has over 355 million menstruating women(Source- FHS India website). However, only 36% of women were reported as using sanitary napkins. Yes, you read it correctly only 36%. Sukhad project aimed at providing 50,000 sanitary kits to underprivileged and poor women. Initially started as ‘Sukhad Initiative’, this initiative helped thousands of women having better menstrual hygiene during their menstruation. Their aim is now to distribute 50,000 Sanitary Kits to these women.  Millions of families across India cannot afford to buy menstrual hygiene products but Sukhad project has made it possible for each women to get the required menstrual products, Now isnt this great, projects like these should be launched in mass scale so that no one is left out on basic human rights.

Sukhad kits for 5 women = Rs 7,000/-

I, Satyam Agarwal, a student of Kothari International School was given the oppurtunity to volunteer for the community outreach programme by Hamari Pehchan NGO. I was interested in the Sukhad project, because of the neglegible awarness about mensturation in India. They are doing an amazing job in distrubuting sanitary kits and providing work oppurtunities to women. Being a volunteer, my role is to help them spread the word about this project and make people understand and contribute to it.  This amazing project and my leadership and social skills put together will help thousands of women get their basic necessities and rights. I WOULD REQUEST YOU TO PLEASE DONATE AND CONTRIBUTE TO THIS PROJECT!
