Help me take 'Martyrs of Marriage' documentary film to masses

My name is Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj. Many of you who would be reading this know about me and my work, many of you may not. To put it in a nut shell - I talk about a gender that's forgotten when it comes to discussion on gender issues.  Whether it is about matrimonial challenges , pain because of betrayal in relationships, domestic abuse and violence, bias by the system, injustice because of one sided laws  - we never consider men as victims.

Four years ago, I took it upon myself to speak up against injustice done to men. Speak up for men who become victims of false dowry and domestic violence cases, men who themselves are wronged in a marriage but are accused as wrong doers, men who face false accusations and hence have their career, family and life destroyed because of someone's vengeance or vendetta.

I decided to do so through the medium of documentary and started making Martyrs of Marriage - a documentary film on misuse of IPC 498A - that throws light on how men and their families become victims of gender biased laws in India and how many of them choose to end their life in absence of a hearing of their innocence.

The film is now complete and I intend to showcase it to as many people as possible across India to bring awareness of all towards this issue and seek intervention of our lawmakers to give justice to those who are falsely accused in 498A.

My Request
I quit my job to do this work and have spent my life's saving to make this film. A lot of people helped me earlier to ensure that this film sees light of the day and I seek support of kind souls who believe in my work again to help me take this film to as many viewers as possible. I am looking for funds to ensure screenings across multiple locations in India , send the film to various film festivals, dub the film in  different languages, travel with the film, pay people who are helping me  and make this a movement to make the lawmakers listen to problem people are facing because of biased laws.

I am looking for public support to ensure that I take this film far and wide. I insist that you fund my work only if you have full faith in me.

Warm Regards,
Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj

My Dearest Donors,

As I type this, I have a big smile on my face. A smile of satisfaction that the film is reaching out to more and more people and touching hearts of everyone everywhere. I am indebted to you for being a part of this journey with me and helping me in my endeavors.

We have now travelled to 5 cities and I aim to travel to many more with #MartyrsofMarriage. I am delighted to share with you that the film is receiving amazing reviews and standing ovation at every city premiere. Our Chennai screening had presence of Honorable Justice P N Prakash, Judge, Madras High Court. He really appreciated the documentary and invited me to screen the same for senior most police officers in Tamil Nadu, during their training at State Judicial Academy in Madurai on November 26, 2016. He plans to showcase the film to his magistrates too in future trainings, expressing deep concern over injustice because of false #498A cases. Our Hyderabad premiere had more than 500 audience in attendance with participation from many students from Law Colleges.

I am now gearing up for screening of the film in Mumbai on 23rd December. The screening is at St Andrews Auditorium, Bandra West and we are working towards having a full house with 800 people in the hall. The screening is free of cost for attendees and being made possible by help of people like you all. I am hoping that the Mumbai show will encourage many more creative people to look seriously towards this issue and do something about the injustice caused to millions. Please join in for the show if you are in Mumbai. Register Here

I too am a victim of 498a. It is unbearable trauma. This film should reach the politicians. The only remedy for this disease is to punish the complainants and her witnesses if the case is found to be false.

Prentice donated $25

Best wishes to you Deepika and to everyone involved in this project.
